Water Improvements:
Week of 07/03/2014

  • Chlorination, flushing, and testing of new water mains is completes on Roger (Ridge to the water tower) and Wayland (Exmoor to the Alley).
  • Sidewalk, concrete driveway aprons, and curb removal and replacement is complete on Brier (from Roger to Melrose) and the north and south side of Melrose (from Brier to Sterling).
  • All new water main installation has been completed on Wayland Ave.

Week of 07/07/2014:

  • Residential water service installation will continue on Melrose Ave. from Sterling to the alley west of Green Bay Road.  Once this is completed, water service installation will begin on Roger.

There will be no construction work over the 4th of July weekend. We hope you enjoy the Holiday.

Week of 06/23/2014:

  • Residential water service installations have begun on Melrose Ave. from Sterling to the alley west of Green Bay Road.
  • Chlorination, flushing, and testing of new water mains to occur on Roger (Ridge to the water tower) and Wayland (Exmoor to the Alley).
  • Sidewalk, concrete driveway aprons, and curb removal and replacement to occur on Brier from (Roger to Melrose) and the north side of Melrose from Brier to Sterling.

Water Improvements
Week of 06/16/2014:

  • On Brier St., from Roger Ave. to Melrose Ave., the residential water service installations are complete. Residential water service installations have begun on Melrose Ave. from Brier St. to Sterling Rd. Once this is complete, water service installations will occur on Melrose Ave. from Sterling Rd. to Green Bay Rd.
  • Water main interconnection of a new fire hydrant and two valve vaults to the existing water main is scheduled to occur at Exmoor Rd. and Wayland Ave.
  • The new water main on Melrose Ave. from Sterling Rd. east to the alley has passed chlorination sampling and is now ready for water service hookups.

Water Improvements:

  • At Roger Ave. and Ridge Rd. Intersection: water main interconnection of the new 12-inch water main on Roger Ave. to the existing 8-inch main on Ridge Rd.is complete.
  • Directional drilling and installation of the new 6-inch water main on Wayland Ave. from Exmoor Rd. west to the end of Wayland Ave. is completed.

Week of 06/09/2014:

  • On Roger Ave. at the water tower: water main interconnection has been delayed due to a utility conflict and will continue into next week.
  • On Brier St., from Roger Ave. to Melrose Ave., the residential water service installations will continue to be connected to the new 12-inch water main. Once these connections are complete, then residential water service installations will be started, on Melrose Ave. from Brier St. to Sterling Rd.
  • Water main interconnection of a new fire hydrant and two valve vaults to the existing water main is scheduled to occur at Exmoor Rd. and Wayland Ave.
  • The new water main on Sterling Rd. east to the alley has passed pressure testing. Chlorination is currently taking place.

The contractor will have a street sweeper onsite on Friday, June 6th to help with dust control.

Water Improvements:

The contractor will be working in the following locations on Friday 5/30/2014 and Saturday 5/31/2014 (beginning at 8:00am on Saturday.)

  • On Roger Ave. at the water tower: water main interconnections and fire hydrant installations will be in progress.
  • At  Roger Ave. and Ridge Rd. Intersection: water main interconnection of the new 12-inch water main on Roger Ave. to the existing 8-inch main on Ridge Rd. will occur.

Week of 06/02/2014:

  • At Brier St. and Roger Rd. Intersection: the water main interconnections and fire hydrant installations are scheduled to occur.
  • On Brier St., from Roger Ave. to Melrose Ave., the residential water service installations will continue to be connected to the new 12-inch water main.   Once these connections are complete, then residential water service installations will be started, on Melrose Ave. from Brier St. to Sterling Rd.
  • Directional drilling and installation of the new 12-inch water main will begin on Wayland Ave. from Exmoor Rd. west to the end of Wayland Ave.

Water Improvements:

  • On Brier St., from Roger Ave. to Melrose Ave., the residential water service installations are in the process of being connected to the new 12-inch water main.
  • On Melrose Ave. and Sterling Rd. the water main interconnections and fire hydrant installations are complete. The new 12-inch water main on Melrose Ave. from Brier St. to Sterling Rd. has been pressure tested and chlorinated.
  • On Roger Ave., drilling and installation of the new 12-inch water main from Brier St. to Ridge Rd., is scheduled to be completed today.

Week of 05/26/2014:

  • On Brier St., from Roger Ave. to Melrose Ave., the residential water service installations will continue to be connected to the new 12-inch water main.   Once these connections are complete, then residential water service installations will be started, on Melrose Ave. from Brier St. to Sterling Rd.
  • Directional drilling and installation of the new 12-inch water main will continue on Roger Ave. from the Water Tower located at the Park on Roger Ave. west to Brier St.

Please follow any posted detour routes.  In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, no construction work will take place on Monday, May 26th.

Water Improvements:
Installation of the directional drilled water main on Melrose Ave from Sterling Rd. towards Green Bay Rd on the north side of the street is complete.

On Roger Ave. in the south right-of-way, sidewalk squares removal and excavation to expose the existing utilities in order to avoid potential conflicts with the installation of the new water main is complete.

Week of 05/19/2014:
On Brier St. from Roger Ave. to Melrose Ave. the new water service installations will be installed.    Please follow the posted detour route.

Directional drilling will begin on Roger Ave. from Brier St. west to Ridge Rd.  Local traffic permitted only.  Please follow the posted detour route.

The intersection of Melrose Ave. and Sterling Rd. will be closed during construction hours (7:00am to 5:00pm) to install the new water main.  Please follow the posted detour route.

Water Improvements:
The installation of the directional drilled water main on Melrose Ave. from Brier St. to Sterling Rd. is complete.

Week of 05/12/2014:
Installation of the directional drilled water main will continue on Melrose Ave from Sterling Rd. towards Green Bay Rd on the north side of the street.  The contractor will continue working on the Melrose Ave./Brier St. water main connections by open cutting the roadway. The contractor will also be installing  2 future fire hydrants and valve vaults.

Brier St. is closed to traffic during construction hours from Melrose Ave. north to Kent Rd.  Please follow the posted detour route. Also, the sidewalk on the north side of Melrose Ave. from Brier St. to Green Bay Road is closed.   Please use the sidewalk on the south side which remains open for pedestrians.

On Roger Ave. in the south right-of-way, sidewalk squares will be removed and excavated to expose the existing utilities in order to avoid potential conflicts with the installation of the new water main.  Please use the sidewalk on the north side of Roger which is open while this work occurs.

Water Improvements:
The contractor completed the installation of the water main by open cut methods at the intersection of Brier St. and Kent Rd. (between Roger and Melrose).
Water main installation will continue on Melrose Ave. and Brier St. section of the project on Friday 5/2 and Sat 5/3. (Please note: The contractor is scheduled to begin work at 8:00am on Saturday 5/3)
The contractor will be also installing connections for 2 future fire hydrants and valve vaults.

Today, 5/2, the contractor anticipates direction drilling the new 12” water main (trenchless installation) on the north side of Melrose Ave. under the sidewalk from Brier St. to Sterling Rd.

Week of 05/05/2014:
The contractor will be working on the Melrose Ave./Brier St. water main connections. Road closures are anticipated at Melrose Ave. and Brier St. Please follow detour routes that will be posted.

Directional drilling/installation of the water main will also occur on Melrose Ave from Sterling Rd. towards Green Bay Rd on the north side of the street.

Water Improvements:
The contractor is installing the water main by open cut methods at the intersection of Brier Street and Kent Road in order to complete the water main installation on Brier (between Roger and Melrose).
Kent Road is closed between 7:00am -5:00pm while this work takes place. This road closure and detour will continue through the middle of next week.

Directional drilling of the water main will occur on Melrose Avenue on the north side of the road beneath the sidewalk. Directional drilling work will take place on Melrose throughout the next couple of weeks.

On Brier Street, the west side sidewalk is closed between Roger and Melrose. The east side sidewalk is open for pedestrian use.
On Melrose Avenue, the north side sidewalk is closed between Brier and Green Bay Road. The south side sidewalk is open for pedestrian use.
